We attended as guests to the Summer Cocktail held on June 30th at The Gallery. OneOcean Port Vell of Barcelona.
We had the opportunity to socialize with the current members and new partners of the Chamber.
The president, Chris Dottie and the Vice-president of the Regional BCC, Laura Byrne were hosting the event.
Collaboration with Dekra and SMDos for energetic audits
Grup Idea has closed a cooperation agreement with Dekra and SMDos to carry out energetic audits for large companies. Grup Idea has a wide experience in interior design for shops and corporate offices in which applies the saving energy policy. Its activity complements Dekra (accreditation) and SMDos (data compilation) task.

Grup Idea has a new office in France
This year we have decided to enlarge our overseas offices, therefore we moved to the number 9, rue du Quatre Septembre in Paris. We are located next to the Bourse and the Madeleine.

"At the end of 2012, we crossed the Atlantic to open up the American market. We chose Mexico because it is an emerging country, where they face little competition, "explains Lluís Saiz, founder-partner of the Group founded in 1996 in Barcelona. At the end of 2015 the company, which currently belongs to 6 partners, has achieved a turnover of 5 Million euros just in Mexico, therefore they added 17 workers to staffing.
"Being European sells: stand for responsibility, innovation and prestige," explains Alejandro Mora, Managing Partner based in Mexico. In fact, the partners assert that Mexican market has enabled the company to post a turnover twice as many as last year, until it reaches a total of 11 million. They say that the aim is to continue growing in that country, but especially to have a stronger entry to the US market, where they have already worked with some companies, as well as Colombia. Grup Idea activity has changed since its beginning. It began the activity specializing in bank offices refurbishment; however it also opened its offer to the retail sector with the onset of the economic crisis. "It was a logical evolution: Grup Idea designs, implements and builds spaces that sell a product, whether it be money, clothing or culture", explains Saiz. Thus, the currently customer base of the Group is quite varied. It is present both in the retail sector (Mango, Desigual, Inditex, Nike ...) representing a 60% of its activity, as in the Corporate Offices (Banc Sabadell, Sharp), and health sector (DENTIX, Adeslas) or cultural sector (La Pedrera). In addition, it has recently been released in the hotel sector (Starbucks, Derby Hotels). In this way, working with multinational companies, the society’s activity is mostly done abroad (representing about 80% of turnover). Therefore, Grup Idea, aside from Barcelona and Mexico DF offices, it has subsidiaries in Paris and London, where they trust to increase its activity. On the other hand, in 2015 Grup Idea founded a new brand called Nuklee, with the aim of enhancing the own design office activity. Thus, Nuklee has been added to the existing brands of the group; Grup Idea monitors and manages works, while Abessis engaged in construction. Altogether, 60 professionals in the field of architecture and engineering are employed.

Nuklee is born to help selling conveying store
It is a new team arising from GrupIdea, with a large experience in implementing stores for fashion chains.
La Plaça de l'Àngel of Barcelona is one of those places where you've been dozens of times (obviously if you are from Barcelona, but there are also many tourists moving about there) without knowing its name. If an “àngel” is mentioned in Barcelona, you would probably think in “Portal de l’Àngel” (door of angel), the old door wall now converted into one of the most expensive shopping street in Spain. The square (la plaça) that we are now referring to is also located in the center. It is like a mark on the Via Layetana on the Gothic, it’s perfect for taking a coffee on a terrace, next to the Roman wall and confluence of the main political street; Jaume I, where the main buildings of the city are located such as the Council and La Generalitat of Catalonia. There is a building, which before had a store below and a warehouse on the top floor, this warehouse has been converted into a space of creation and projection because its current inhabitants are architects. It is the head office of Grup Idea, on July became another ephemeral place to introduce a new business adventure, a line of "core design" for brands. Grup Idea, a company set up in 1996 in Barcelona and specialized in corporate architecture, has launched a new business line, Nuklee. It focuses on the core design for brands, perceived as the design of spaces and products "from the outset "according to Miquel Angel Julià, Design Director of Nuklee. Both companies work independently, "that will allow to emerge strengthened", explains Lluís Saiz, Founding Partner of Grup Idea. The last year, the group had a turnover of 1.5 million Euros and foresees an increase of 10% revenues this year.
Idea implements designs in stores that have been previously made by others, unlike Nuklee, that will be responsible for the design from the outset - "this will allow it to interact with the client, where the business concept were born," says Saiz. "We seek, that spaces transmit values and the message of brands," adds Julià. The ultimate purpose is to "help them grow and expand, but also to enhance their sales." At first, its starting point is the retail by providing also solutions in packaging or projection of stands and counters. In the future it aims to reach out more sectors, with a special interest in hotels.
At the present Nuklee develops projects for Gaes, Lavazza, Modiss or Made Design. Saiz expects that the first year helps to get a good positioning among its competitors and get job orders in medium- and long-term, without entering any competition at the moment. “We want that when a brand considers changing its store design, think about us”, he says.
The activity will start with a team of four people, combining architects and designers. The office is located in Barberà del Vallès. "Training and design dedication have been the main investment in this new line", they pointed. Nuklee will have a network of occasional collaborators according to their requirements, always with the premise of sharing the knowledge and the experience acquired in Grup Idea. At first, the domestic market will be the strong point of the business, "but we were born with a global vision," says Julià. "Nuklee will take advantage of the markets, in which the group has a presence." That expansion would take them to France, United Kingdom and Mexico; these are key countries for Idea Company, besides Latin America, that is considered an achievable goal.
Even so, they emphasize the potential of Barcelona as a working platform, since the major international brands have presence in Barcelona.

The new branch office of Banc Sabadell, designed by Grup Idea, was opened in Paris.
The architectural project of this new office belongs to Grup Idea, a Catalan company founded in 1996. Grup Idea is specialized in corporate offices and retail projects. Its designs integrate all necessary disciplines in order to convey the brand values and increase productivity and sales. They have also designed the new corporate offices of Banc Sabadell in Mexico.
Banc Sabadell opens its new office in Les Champs Elysees, Paris
Since 1987 Banc Sabadell operates in Paris and this new office represents a future hope for the French bank market with a long-term vision.
The branch office serves clients of corporate banking and had an increase of 50% its turnover over the last three years.
José Oliu, the president of Banc Sabadell, chaired an act of institutional nature. Ramon de Miguel, the Ambassador of Spain in France attended to this act.
